ABOUT ME
The Story So Far
It started when I was a teenager. A camera for my 18th birthday, and seven months in Australia. I was hooked. It stopped when I had children, the sheer busyness of life crowding out time for anything other than work and family. It was reignited when I had a sabbatical from my job as a leadership development specialist in the charity sector. A new camera and travels in Uganda, Canada and the USA led to a reconnection with a deep passion.
And then I found a way to link my professional career as a trainer and author with my hobby as a photographer, and James Lawrence Photography began. For the last five years I've taught people through workshops, led several photo tours to Iceland, and written two photography e-books. As a speaker and trainer on a wide variety of leadership topics I am fortunate to travel extensively in the UK and overseas, always taking my camera with me. And as a semi-professional photographer I get to help others learn how to take better photos. Perfect! I live in Warwickshire with my wife, love anything that travels fast, and enjoy ironing (someone has to). |
'To me photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in ordinary places…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with how you see them.'
